Looking for inspirational podcasts that will help you change the way you think? You came to the right place as I have a few gems for you.
There are many ways to get and stay motivated to build and live the best possible life. There are many ways to learn how to create the life of your dreams and become the best version of yourself. But often it is helpful to hear it from those who learnt it themselves. And one of those ways is listening to inspirational podcasts created by some of the most thought-provoking people.
Years ago someone gave me this advice: ‘Pati if you want to change your life, don’t change who you are. Change the way you think’
This sentence stuck with me ever since.
I did not understand at first what was the true meaning of this sentence. But I knew that I need to find out. This is how my self-development journey started.
I met many teachers along the way. Through books, videos, courses, podcasts and so on. Some stuck for longer, some were eventually dismissed. Nevertheless, they were all important teachers.
The saying goes: ‘When the student is ready, the teacher will appear’.
But ‘ready’ doesn’t happen overnight. And ‘ready’ doesn’t mean you have arrived. True is, it’s not about arriving, its about the journey.
Self-development is not a sprint. It is a marathon. And a never-ending one. But it is a run really worth taking on.
So if you came here looking for inspirational podcasts to follow to help you change your life, maybe it’s my duty to introduce you to some of my teachers.
People from different walks of life. Often broken. Recovered. Arising like a phoenix. Reinventing themselves, reinventing their lives – and now sharing their stories and wisdom with the world.
What I have learnt over the years is that being broken is a blessing. The struggle of rising above the difficulties gives us strength and reveals and depth of it we did not know existed. Those who change lives the most are those who had to change their own in order to survive and then, strive. This gives hope and power to many people out there. Not only hope. It makes us believe that nothing happens without the reason.
I often asked myself why life would lead me through so many difficult paths. Now, I know. Because I needed this push. It was life’s gift to me.
With that in mind, here are my 5 favourite inspirational podcasts that will helped you change the way you think:
Rich Roll Podcast
Rich Roll is a master of personal and professional development with a truly inspirational story.
He hosts a podcast where each week he talks to some of the most forward-thinking, inspiring and brilliant guests. He talks to people like David Goggins, Jay Shetty, Guru Singh, Sanjay Gupta and Mark Manson just to mention few.
Rich traverses deep into spirituality, wellness, nutrition, fitness and entrepreneurship, and to simply put, how to be a human.
Those are intimate and deep conversations. He creates a connection with his guests that is one of a kind.
For me, Rich’s story is a perfect example of how it is never too late to reinvent yourself and change your life. At the of 31, he got sober following a decade of alcohol and substance abuse. 10 years later, he turned his life around – lost weight, became a plant-based diet advocate and one of the fittest men on earth as an ultra-marathon runner as well as a world-renowned author. There is so much to say about Rich Roll that I struggled greatly to put it in a few sentences! But how about you went and found out for yourself. His podcasts are also available to be watched on YouTube.
“And at the end of the day, there is nothing but the journey. Because destination is pure illusion.”― Rich Roll, The Plantpower Way: Whole Food Plant-Based Recipes and Guidance for The Whole Family
The School of Greatness with Lewis Howes
Lewis Howes knows a thing or two about defeat, depression and loneliness. He also knows very well how to lift yourself up and eventually become ‘Internet Guru’ and successful entrepreneur.
A former professional football player who, following an injury, spent years on his sister sofa – is now a New York Times bestselling author of The School of Greatness and The Mask of Masculinity and runs one of the most inspirational podcasts on the web.
The School of Greatness podcast is as inspirational as Lewis himself. He shares meaningful and though-provoking interviews from the most successful people on the planet.
I find Lewis Howes beautifully vulnerable and extremely relatable. He shows us how failure can lead to success and how opening your heart and mind to the world of opportunities can change our life. He openly shares the story of his life on many occasions which creates an intimate connection between him and the listener as well as his guest.
On his show, he talks to guests like Bob Proctor, Esther Perel, Dr Joe Dispenza, Gary Vaynerchuk and Sadhguru. He talks about health and nutrition, daily life, business, becoming successful and creating great relationships. Basically, if you are looking to better your life in unimaginable ways – this is the podcast for you.
“The world makes room for passionate people.”― Lewis Howes
The One You Feed
Created by Eric Zimmer and Charles Forbes, The One You Feed is an inspirational podcast that will help you live a happier, more fulfilled life.
I came across this podcast when searching for interviews with Adyashanti. And I got hooked.
Topics discussed on the show cover mental health, anxiety and depression, mindfulness, meditation, positive leadership, self-awareness and improvement, faith and spirituality, and many more.
This podcast is a gold mine full of inspirational conversations.
A number of listeners claimed that the show has not only changed but also saved their life. If this won’t convince you, I don’t know what will 🙂
Eric himself at the age of 24 was living in a van, addicted to alcohol and heroin and facing a long jail sentence. In the following years, he has found a way to rebuild his life and now he works as a behaviour coach and hosts a podcast that changes lives.
The Tim Ferris Show
The Tim Ferris Show is not only one of the most inspirational podcasts. Tim Ferris himself is an extraordinary person on a personal journey to self-discovery.
Tim Feris is best known as the author of the bestselling book ‘The 4-Hour Workweek‘. The book that made many people go on and rediscover their life’s purpose, escape the rat race and shift their work-life paradigm.
The New York Times calls him “a cross between Jack Welch and a Buddhist monk.”
Apart from being a world-renown author, Tim has also recently shifted his awareness into more emotional space, thinking about who he is, and where life is taking him.
On the podcast, Tim is having insightful and fascinating conversations with elite-performers, entrepreneurs, motivational speakers, medical professionals, actors and authors.
He talks about delivering the best performance, leadership but also daily habits, tools and tactics for a better life and discovering your own potential.
Some of his guests amongst others include Brenè Brown, Tony Robbins, Edward Norton and Paulo Coelho (!!!) I started following his podcast after watching Rich Roll’s episode on which Tim Ferris was a guest. I was mesmerised by the person Tim is and when I dug into his podcast I was not disappointed.
“‘Someday’ is a disease that will take your dreams to the grave with you.”– Tim Ferris
If you don’t fancy hours of listening but still want to enjoy an extremely inspirational podcast – Optimal Living is for you.
This podcast offers small doses of motivation and inspiration while on-the-go.
Justin Malik hand-picks and read the best content on personal development, minimalism, finance, health, business, and more. This is great way to discover other blogs and creators without spending hours searching and browsing the internet.
The podcast features the writing of popular bloggers, including Leo Baubata (Zen Habits), Steve Pavlina, Ramit Sethi (Author of I Will Teach You to be Rich), Mark Manson (Author of The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck) and many more.
Those podcasts last between 5 and 10 minutes and you can easily squeeze them in your busy schedule.
Impact Theory with Tom Bilyeu
Another one of the interview shows, with Tom Bilyeu aspiring to make the impact in the world. And he succeeds!
I came across this show for the first time on YouTube, just to learn later on that Tom also runs this show as a podcast. Nevertheless, his show was one of the first of such kind I came across and I never looked back.
The show is meant to be a business and mindset oriented yet it is so much more than that. Tom not only does his homework in learning everything about his guests – he takes it to the next level!
He reads their books, finds out everything there is to find out and then, he asks questions and gets answers that are lifechanging for him and his listeners. He is fascinated with human performance and wants to find a way to live forever.
You will hear shows on nutrition, longevity, performance, mind-body connection and personal development. Some of the guests on his show include Ramit Sethi, Marisa Peer, Deepak Chopra and Hilary Swank. This show is a joy to listen to and will definitely make an impact on your life.
“Make it your daily obsession to make the most of your potential.”– Tom Bilyeu
Those are not the only inspirational podcasts out there. Yet those are the shows I listen to not only regularly, but religiously. They help me stay motivated when I feel like giving up and provide hacks and tips on productivity and creating the ultimate mind-body connection.
Mostly, seeing that the real people, like me and you, managed to overcome the hardships and battled their personal demons, and eventually became very successful – gives me the biggest motivation.
I hope this will help you as well. Please enjoy and if there are any inspirational podcasts that you enjoy, make to sure to share those in the comment below.
As Tom Bilyeu would say: Stay Legendary!
